What a Word file can give away

A document carries two kinds of traces. The text itself keeps everything that came along when you pasted an AI answer: invisible characters, Markdown, citation leftovers and links with utm_source=chatgpt.com. The file also stores properties that Word fills in on its own.

The free report shows only how many values each group holds — never the values themselves. The document title is kept.

How cleaning works

Free and Pro

Files up to 10 MB. Password-protected documents can’t be opened — remove the password in Word first.

Google Docs and plain text

Google Docs downloads as .docx (File → Download → Microsoft Word), so the same check works for it. For a .txt file or text copied from anywhere, use the scanner on the home page.

Remove AI Traces removes technical traces. It doesn’t rewrite your text or promise any AI-detector score.
